Google Search Bar

Just added the Google Search Bar on the right. This is suppose to be AdSense for search (The one right down at the bottom is AdSense for Content). I hope I'm getting these things in the right place.

The friend of mine who introduced me to all these blogging and Adsensing thing, has not got his blog up yet, and I'm like counting on him as it what I shall do next.

Wireless-N behind two walls

This is interesting. My friend placed a PC at the reception area, and this is like two walls away from the router and its like 15-18metres.

U guys make a guess, what sort of speed and quality you will get:-

a) 11Mbps - 33-40%
b) 22Mbps - 33-40%
c) 54Mbos - 30-47%
d) 54Mbps - 50-75%
e) 270Mbps - 50-75%
f) 270Mbps - 70-80%

The answer is 'f'.

I was shocked for a moment. As that particular day, the only time I witnessed so many, > 100MBps connection in a single day.

Wireless-N Technology

For the IT techies and servicemen, this is good news.

I've just installed a Wireless-N Router for a friend's office, and guess what? Forget about those one-touch installation, unlimited port forwarding features & etc. Our concern is always the Signal Strength & Quality kind of stuffs.

I've the router installed inside a store room (not server room) behind a wooden door and the nearest 6 PCs were like 5metres away. and the results were astonishing (at least to me). We're getting 270Mbps at 100% Strength! For my Wireless-G Router at home, I'm getting like 54Mbps at 100% Strength within 5-10metres, and 11Mbps at 33-40% Strength about 20-25metres (behind some walls).

However, I believe putting the Wireless-N on a 5metres radius test is an insult given its 'improved formula' over Wireless-G.

AdSense for the 1st time

I was playing around with the Google AdSense thingy for the last 12hours and I tell you, I've still no idea what is going on. Even for a IT guy like me, I don't understand a thing.

Actually, I wanted to share my experience on installing a Wireless-N (YES! its N-technology) Router for my friend's office, but looks like have to do it tomorrow as I'm still figuring out AdSense. Let's see whether this AdSense works or not, and how it looks like

YES!!!! I got the AdSense thing at the footer of my page! Hurray! I'm going to spend the next few hours to select some pictures to beautify this blog of mine.

Bulletin Board Services

Being in the IT industry for more than 10 years, and have been on internet since 1994/95 (when Singnet first started commerical services). Prior to that, we have the wonderful BBS (Bulletin Board Services) snail-loading @ 33.6KBps, 28.8KBps, 14.4KBps, 9600Bps, 2400Bps, 8N1, Z-Modem, Y-modem & blah blah blah.

I believe most netizens have not heard of these terminologies and probably will not be too bothered about them. However, I'm sure for those in their 30s, 40s and 50s will be have flashback of those wonderful ANSI-based RemoteAcess/WildCat/Max BBS. Those were memorable days where majority of users will NEVER complain about upload/download speed and happily posting/reading articles; downloading games, programs, hacks, cracks & blah blah blah. I guess those couple of complaints was,

1. "WHO IS HOGGING THE PHONE LINE?"
2. "WHY THE BBS MODEM IS NOT ANSWERING?"
3. "SHALL I USE ATZ? ATL1M1? AT&F3? ATX4?"
4. "WHY MY US ROBOTICS CANNOT DETECT BUSY TONE?"

This might sound abrupt, butI guess I shall stop writing grandfather story of the NET.

First Posting

Its 2:56am (GMT +8) and I'm writing my first posting, on the sunny island of Singapore.

You guys must be wondering, why this blog is created? Let's be honest, I do have a reason. (I don't think its HIP to have a blog, and I'm not going to put my blog address on my business card). I would like to understand the process of signing-up a blog account and get the feel of doing up the web-pages, to see how tedious its going to be and why bloggers are increasing by the day. BUT I'm totally wrong.

I didn't expect that the blog is so easily created; without asking for my Credit Card Number, telling me its Free for 14 days and you like it after the trial period, you've pay $XX.xx for 1 year subscription. Nothing of that sort which current day NET is full of.

Since I've experienced the ease of blogging and I ask myself "Why Not?". Therefore, I've decided to make this blog talking/discussing about my Work & Interest about Network & Communication + Internet Security.
